Mold and mildew on composite decking is usually a moisture problem, not a defect — it shows up most on older, uncapped composite boards that lack a protective outer shell. Early-generation composite typically needs a composite-safe cleaner and a semi-annual cleaning schedule, while current high-performance lines like Trex Transcend, Enhance and Lineage generally only need soap and water or a gentle wash. In every case, too much pressure from a power washer can permanently damage uncapped composite decking, so we scale our approach to the specific product on your deck.
