The Premier Deck Restoration Company in Michigan

Supreme Deck sets the standard in sealing, staining, cleaning and refinishing of composite, Trex and wood decks, Rainbow play sets, and fences — plus full repair and structural work for wood decks. We've serviced and rehabbed over 35,000 backyard decks in the Bloomfield, Ann Arbor, Novi, Canton and Brighton areas since 1991 — and every coat of stain we apply is hand-brushed for quality, never sprayed. As a TrexPro Platinum contractor — the highest level of Trex contractor recognition — we also design and build custom Trex decks from the ground up.

We also offer solid-stain application for decks with failed coatings. We can remove most failed coatings — including Behr — and restore them with penetrating, oil-based contractor coatings from Olympic, TWP, Sikkens, Cabot and Ready Seal. Have rotted floor boards or a loose railing? We handle that too, along with restoring exterior teak furniture, wood fences, and the cleaning and sealing of exotic hardwood decks.

Is Your Deck Safe & Built to Code?

We walk over 3,000 decks a year in Michigan — and sadly, over half fall below today's deck code standards. These are the problems we see every day:

  • Stair treads cut wrong
  • Missing joist hangers
  • Nails instead of bolts in post connections
  • Nails instead of bolts in the header
  • Missing Z-channel flashing
  • Over-spanned beams

Nails rust and loosen over time — they simply won't hold the weight of a beam long-term. When we find these issues, we update the post and beam connections with 1/2″ through-bolts, add joist hangers where they're missing, and correct over-spanned or under-posted decks to bring them up to today's code.

Common Questions

Deck Care Questions Michigan Homeowners Ask

Why didn't my wood deck hold up?
Most deck coatings fail because the surface wasn't properly prepped before staining. Old finish, mildew and gray weathered wood all have to be stripped and neutralized first — skip that step and even a premium stain will peel within a season.
When should I seal a new cedar or pressure-treated deck?
Wait at least 30 days. New cedar and pressure-treated lumber needs to weather and release excess moisture before it can properly absorb stain — and it should be sealed before winter hits.
Do you spray stain or hand-brush it?
Every job is hand-brushed. Spraying is faster, but brushing works stain into the grain for better penetration, more even coverage, and a finish that simply lasts longer.
Do you clean and maintain Trex or composite decking?
Yes — we're a TrexPro Platinum contractor and clean and maintain Trex Transcend, Enhance and Lineage composite decking as well as other composite brands. We don't repair existing composite decks, but if yours needs more than cleaning, we can build you a brand-new Trex deck from the ground up.
Is my deck safe and built to code?
We inspect stair treads, joist hangers, post and header connections and beam spans on every job — nailed connections, missing hardware and over-spanned beams are common on older Michigan decks, and we bring them up to code.
Can you resurface my deck instead of rebuilding it?
Often, yes. Deck resurfacing or replacement boards are an affordable alternative to a full rebuild when your deck's structure is sound but the surface shows wear or rot.
